Back to Blogging

A few things have changed since I have typed anything here.  It was put on my heart to get back to blogging.  I came across a blog from a gal with 5 kids under 5.  If she can find the time, I will try too!  So to catch you up a bit we have another addition to our family.  Little baby Sammy (Samuel Peter) joined our family 1 year ago tomorrow!  The last couple years have been an amazing adventure.  We moved to the Canistota, SD area almost 4 years ago now.  After loving country life and the community here we were excited to find a more permanent home.  We were put through a trial last year that the Lord saw us through.  Here's a quick rundown:  8 1/2 months pregnant, discovering bed bugs in our home, doing about a million loads of laundry, getting rid of all beds, couches, and cleaning everything else, living in our camper for 5 days while they fumagated our home.  Oh, then finding out Baby flipped and I was in need of a C-section - what!?  I had two more weeks to get things cleaned, organized and put back in order before he came!  Not this time... Baby Sammy had to come out as his heart rate was low w/ the cord around his neck.  The Lord's peace came over me on the operating table as I continued to say Phil. 4:6-7 over and over and the shaking finally stopped.  A baby taken out of you with no feeling is nothing like a natural birth.  It was difficult, but still a joy to have this healthy baby boy next to me.  So coming home barely able to move, an infant, 4 other children needing care, with all clothes and blankets in big garbage sacks in the basement going through the process of debugging is a bit overwhelming.  This is when full dependance on the Lord comes in.  It is no longer mom going to get everything done.  But help stepped in and God's love was so overwhelmingly shown me.  I didn't have to cook for a month - literally!  I had people coming over to clean, help with the kids, besides all the food. Oh yes, I fogot to mention that shortly before this we acquired sheep and a puppy!  What a fun, crazy, exciting, exhausting time...
Psalm 34:19  "A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all."  The Lord was with us and saw us through.  My everyday difficulties don't seem that big when I remember life a year ago.

Hi Haley, good to hear from you! Yes, Anna is our princess among the boys - although she can hold her own among them. She does get tired of football and Toby Mac though! How are you and your family doing? We are not full fledged farmers yet - although we are raising sheep, chickens and pigs. Still waiting to see where the Lord leads - what is going on with you? Sorry it took me so long to get back to you - I was out w/ the worst flu ever for about 3 days and still sort of taking it easy. Mom out of commission for that long does not do so well around here!

Sounds like our youngest Jordan/prince amongst the ladies, LOL! Football and Toby Mac, hahaha! He deals with Calico Critters and BAllet/Tap dancing :) That's funny. If we need to pull a switcheroo sometime--just lemme know! Oooh! Sheep, chickens and pigs. WOW! You really have the mini-farm going. Kudos! We moved to the city (LONG story-reserved for over coffee sometime!)but still live amongst deer, wild turkeys and woodchucks. Sorry you were so sick--we had some sick kids not too few many weeks ago. When mom is down though-that's rough on the entire house. Glad you feel better. We're sitll at ACE, Sophie is in 3rd grade this year. We also enjoy piano and dance each week. Would love to talk more soon....until then take care!!!

Oh, that's ok. I'll probably be getting together this week with Jana Hofer. She is back from Guatemala for a bit. Would you be interested in getting together with us as well? I'd love that if you could; the more the merrier! Let me know; we could all 3 go to get a quick coffee or something.

That would be awesome, I would love to see her as well! I am in town on Tues and Wed - could do something one of those days. Tues I have from 11:30-1, have more time on Wed 11:30-2ish if we could squeeze something in there? You guys would also be welcome to come visit if you are up for a little trip. It would be more fun to visit us in a few months when we have baby lambs though!

Jana called back and said Tuesday morning would work best, and we decided to meet at Rainbow Playsystems to play inside (free!). Their hours at 10-12. Please come if you can get out a little early!! Maybe we can do something afterwards, or hopefully you can come early and we can enjoy the time; since we'd be getting close to lunch.
